Lesson Plan: Identifying Coins Through Interactive Video

Objective: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to identify various coins confidently.

Introduction (5 minutes):

Body (25 minutes):

  1. Interactive Video Presentation (15 minutes):
  • Show the interactive video displaying various coins one by one.
  • Ensure the video allows pauses for students to observe and identify each currency.
  • Encourage active participation by asking students to call out or raise their hands to place the coins they see.
  • Use the video to display each coin’s front and back, highlighting distinguishing features.
  1. Group Discussion (5 minutes):
  • After the video presentation, lead a discussion about the coins shown.
  • Discuss the characteristics and features of each currency that helped in their identification.
  • Use the whiteboard or chart paper to list the coins discussed and note their distinct attributes.
  1. Individual or Collective Quiz (5 minutes):
  • Administer a quiz where students individually or collectively answer questions about the coins shown in the video.
  • Ask questions like:
    • “Which coin has a portrait of a particular historical figure?”
    • “Can anyone tell me the color and size of the coin with a specific value?”
    • “Which coin has a smooth edge, and which one has a ridged edge?”
  • Please encourage students to participate actively by raising their hands to answer or discuss collectively.

Conclusion (5 minutes):

  • Summarize the key features and characteristics of the coins discussed during the lesson.
  • Reiterate the importance of accurately identifying coins in real-life situations, such as making purchases or handling money.

Extension Activity (Optional):

  • Provide real coins for students to examine closely, reinforcing their understanding of the features discussed in the lesson.
  • Organize a hands-on activity where students sort and group different coins based on their shared characteristics.

Assessment:

  • Monitor students’ participation during the interactive video session and their responses during the quiz or discussions to assess their ability to identify coins accurately.
