This morning, I got dressed thinking about history. The Tuskegee Airmen. The Red Tails. The ones who were told they couldn’t fly but soared higher than anyone expected. Red meant courage. Red meant standing out. So, I put on my red T-shirt.
By the time I got to school, I noticed something. Everyone was wearing rainbow colors. Tie-dye shirts, bright patterns—a full spectrum of color.
Uh-oh. Did I miss something? I pulled out my phone and scrolled through my messages.
Miss Para: “Tomorrow’s color of the week: Tie-dye or rainbow!”
I read it again. Then again. Not red. Red is tomorrow valentine day.
I quickly texted her:
Me: “Miss, what’s today’s color??”
