Poetry of mOHiKOnTOk

Just as Sanskrit held a paramount position in ancient India, the Algonquin language was revered among the Native American tribes dwelling along the Hudson River in present-day New York. The term “mOHiKonTok” encapsulates the essence of the river’s dual flow – salty and sweet, symbolizing the coexistence of diverse elements within nature and society.

mOHiKonTok is a river. This river has taken away the free movement of all the rivers in history and descended the mount Marcy from the Adirondack Mountains on the border of New York and New Jersey in a two-way stream. The Algonquin-speaking people named this river, dear to all, the mOHiKonTok.

Remembering the form of the Hudson River, the black water of the Banshi River. I saw tangled roots in the trees In the evening and at night, the wind in the river, the boat ride. O river, I love you. Who else do I know more than you in New York City?

আশুলিয়া, আড়িচা, পদ্মা পেরিয়ে গেলেন যশোর;

When Abba walked down, cross the hallway,

I hear my heartbeat rhymed like dhuk, dhuk;

dhuk, dhuk; dhuk dhuk sounds stomp chest.

I sit up from lying down and get straight up

from sitting down. He taught me bike riding!

When I kicked the bicycle pedal, the wheel

fasted forward to Savar, Dhamrai, and Ashulia.

Ah! What a joy! The day I jumped on the bike,

The cycle past the speed breaker. Remember,

It flew away under; I put my hands up in the air.

When I floated like a bird, I saw a doctor’s face.

I returned home with stitches on my forehead,

Father said, “Don’t lose yourself in joy, son.”

How many times do I have to utter, after years

Abba was wrapped in white cloth like a feather

and crossed the Padma River to go to Jessore.

Father is resting in peace with our past fathers.

He taught me a grimoire. Rest in peace, dear.

Rabbi Hamahuma Kama Rabba Yani Shagira.

Almighty, please take care of him as he cares.

I put my hands up in the air, holding a memoir.

Note: Poetry #3 describes the memories of joy when riding a bicycle alone. The bike rider remembers how their father taught him to ride a bicycle. However, the memory is bittersweet as the person also recalls his father’s passing and the sorrow it brought. The poem also mentions the grandfather’s graveyard and a prayer for peace in the afterlife that the father taught the person. Overall, the course conveys the nostalgia, joy, and sorrow associated with memories of a loved one.

I was waiting nervously for my guest at the airport, scanning the crowds of people passing by, but unable to spot them. Even after the plane landed, I couldn’t see them anywhere. The arrival gate was tense, and the visa officer scrutinized each passenger, making it seem like he wanted to keep everyone in. I started to worry about what could have gone wrong. The visa may have expired, or their luggage may have been lost. I waited anxiously for any news, and finally, the phone rang. I got up from slumber. It was only to inform me to hold my tongue. The flight from LA to NY had yet to arrive.

Poetry #4

Sometimes, when I ask for something, it magically appears in front of me. It could be fruit from a tree, a fish from a river, or even the leaves of a banyan tree. I believe in the power of manifestation, which gives me the confidence to create my reality. I often imagine what my future will look like, and that helps me on my journey from the comfort of my mother’s womb to unfamiliar places. Even when life gets tough, I know that failure is not permanent. It’s important to remember the beauty of places like Gorai and to trust that everything is as it should be.

Imagination has the power to make things happen.

When I call for something, it appears in front of me.

Whether it’s the fruit from a tree, the fish from a river,

The majestic banyan tree, leaves of lost memories,

love, Once I have confidence as I manifest it. Imagine

manifesting future reality. Our journey starts from

the comfort of our mother’s womb to unfamiliar places.

So, eventually, we find ourselves back where we belong.

Everything is as it should be.

Life can be tiring and thrilling. Failure is not permanent.

Remember the beauty of Gorai, a river on New Island.

There is always hope and a chance for a fresh start.

It’s a beautiful sight to see the asteroids and meteors

blending into the vast expanse of space. However, it’s

also a reminder that they all have their respective

abodes to return to.

Is it fascinating to see the collisions among asteroids

That takes them back to their birthplace. As they revolve

around the Earth, they resemble comets with tails. You

may wonder whom they wander and observe in the world.

Poetry #5

Raindrops keep falling on the iron chair.

I spent the whole evening thinking;

I was tired, and my mind was sinking.

Did I fall asleep to wake up in New Era?

Hello, world of cloud, programmed angel.

Rain falls on the flower, drops a kiss on

The Thorn splashes the cornfield

and throws leaves on wet mud. Wake up

and see the Miss World on an iron chair.

Note: The evening was spent in deep contemplation while listening to the sound of raindrops falling on the iron chair on the balcony. Despite feeling tired, the mind was still active and unable to sleep. The idea of awakening to see the world was pondered upon, with a raindrop being likened to an angel. The scene of the Snake flower catching raindrops and the maple leaves on the wet ground were reminiscent of birth and rebirth. The poem ends with a metaphysical reference to view the angel of rain on the balcony.

কেটে গেলো ভেবে ভেবে পুরা সন্ধ্যা;

জেগে উঠে দেখি পৃথিবীটা এক জলকন্যা;

Poetry #5

Snowman!

My heart paid the price to make a Snowman.

The man put on Mitten on old bones, raised

Your Sticky fingers, on orange nose. Yes, Mam.

I said you’re my man. I Love you, snowman.

Shake your hands; You exchange snowballs as

hands unbutton my chest and touch fallen love flakes.

We are happily frozen at the heart of a Snowman!

Note: This is a playful and lighthearted poem that describes the joy of building a snowman. The speaker addresses the snowman as “my man” and adorns it with mittens, a carrot nose, and a chest button. Building a snowman is described as a happy and freezing experience out of love for the snowman.

City Corp trucks remove black ice.

Last week’s stale ice turns to

Black ice solidified on the road.

The snow removal truck slides on it.

Wet black pitch, pouring road, no!

Let us live. Let the road be clear.

Keep it open to the general public.

Note: The City Corp trucks were called to remove the black ice and make the road safe for travel. After last week’s ice went stale, it turned into black ice that hardened on the road. This caused a snow removal truck to slide on it, making the situation dangerous for everyone. The road was wet and covered in black pitch, making navigating difficult. However, it’s vital to keep the road open to the public and ensure their safety.
